My Journey

Hi, I’m Darlene — a mom to three incredible kids, a proud firefighter’s wife, and someone who’s faced one of life’s hardest battles: cancer.


We had just moved into our new home, when everything changed. What I thought was a small health concern became a diagnosis no one expects to hear. That season reshaped me—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Treatment brought fear, fatigue, and uncertainty, but it also revealed unexpected strength. My children gave me purpose. My faith became my anchor. And the people around me— family, friends, and community— carried us when I couldn’t carry myself.

Hope Wears Boots grew out of that season. It’s a place for honest reflection, faith-filled encouragement, and reminders that even in the hardest chapters …you are not alone.

Hope Wears Boots was born out of all of this. Out of grit, grace, pain and purpose. It’s where I share real life reflections, faith-filled encouragement, and reminders that you are never alone in your journey.

Whether you’re walking through chemo, burnout, motherhood, or a silent struggle no one else sees, I want this space to feel like home.
